Pisek
The town is located along the Otava River. Its name originates from
gold-bearing sand, which was paned here from the river. The stone
bridge above the Otava River, which dates from the second half of
the 13th century (it is the oldest preserved bridge in the Czech Republic),
ranks among the historic highlights of the towns. The castle, which
is set into a town fortification, dates from 1479. It is richly decorated
with murals with motives of the Three Kings Adoration. The Prachenske
Museum is established in the castle now. A baroque town hall dates
from the middle of the 18th century. |
